The Beklen Band from Vienna, founded in 2016 and now with a new line-up, consists of six professional musicians with many years of experience and international accomplishments. The band’s sound spectrum includes world music as well as influences from jazz, rock and classical music. Coupled with rhythm changes, the musical facets are particularly expressed.
In addition to soulful, intimate original compositions that cast a spell on the listener, melodies from European classical music and Anatolia are arranged energetically and movingly.
Çağrı Beklen is a critically-acclaimed Turkish composer and musician based in Vienna, Austria. Beklen’s career spans several decades, with his work ranging from classical composition, jazz and rock guitar performance to conservatory tuition. He has composed music for over 40 productions and has received eight awards to date.
Tuğba Yağmur was born in 1988 in Kırşehir, Turkey. At the age of 9, she took her first music lessons with Adil Yenidünya. In 1997, she started singing folk and art music songs in the school choir as a singer and soloist.
Marco Mrcella started playing drums and percussions at a very young age. Later on, he decided to make music his profession and started to study drums and percussions at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz under Joris Dudli, Herbert Pirker and Stephan Maass.
Uygar Çağlı was born in Istanbul and is now based in Austria. He is a bassist, composer and arranger. Uygar graduated from the Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Graz and the jazz department at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz.
Tzu Min Lee, pianist and composer, was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1988 and now lives in Vienna. After a bachelor’s degree in classical music (piano), she discovered her passion for jazz music.
